USDA Rolls Out More Web-Tools

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced on Wednesday the launching of new online tools to guide consumers through the wide-world of food. These tools evidence a new stance on food education from the USDA and an embrace of technology as communication tools.

USDA web-tools:

Know Your Farmer promotes food issues, presents dinner options and celebrates food holidays like National Nutrition Month.

MyFood-a-pedia is an online encyclopedia of calorie information. While the navigation and search tool may not yet be optimized, MyFood-a-pedia allows you to type in nearly any food item and find out the amount of calories you swallowed.

I’m sure we can expect more from the USDA as the continue to announce this re-focusing on nutrition and food communities.
