The Whidbey Island Grown (WIG) brand was established by local farmers and residents to increase awareness and consumption of agricultural products grown on Whidbey Island. Agricultural areas are an important part of what makes the Island such a special place to visit and live. Qualifying producers, retailers, restaurants, and consumers proudly display the brand to promote locally grown products and to help preserve the rural character of the Island.
Working closely with local farmers and restaurants NABC has been a driving force in recruiting producers and retailers to network with other WIG members as well as tell their story to consumers and chefs. NABC helped them establish a core committee who strategically created standards, an attractive logo, signage, stickers, and twist ties. Social media, including Twitter and Facebook, is another way NABC actively promotes the brand.
