Who is this workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for beginners, new businesses and existing producers (large & small-scale) interested in learning about distilling and CARL manufactured equipment.

How is the course organized?
The class is organized to cover the following key components in both a lecture and hands-on environment:
 

·        Basics of distilling systems and applications

·        Artisan distilling: fermentation, distillation and rectification principles. flavor chemistry & analysis, aging practices

·        Distillery technology applications for apple and wine brandies, eau-de-vie, grappa, whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, etc

·        Primary and finishing batch distillation techniques

Participants will spend a full day at Sodo Spirits in Seattle, WA learning how to operate a pot still and evaluate heads, hearts, and tail cuts. Additional technical presentations and discussions will accompany the batch distillations throughout the day.
