Puget Sound Food Network
PUGET SOUND FOOD NETWORK
The Northwest Agriculture Business Center received federal funding for the creation and startup of a Puget Sound Food Network. This project formalizes a regional network of growers and producers, retailers and food service, along with operating infrastructure such as processing, storage, and transportation for the purpose of increasing sales of locally produced products.
Project Goals:
- Help foster a regional food system that supports local, sustainable agriculture and provides healthy foods to local communities;
- Increase access to locally produced products throughout the Puget Sound region; and
- Increase economic viability and sustainability of mid-sized family farms by providing new market opportunities to consumers, retailers, and institutional buyers.
