Helps offset costs associated with helping limited income food producers and small businesses create new markets opportunities in the Puget Sound region.
Helps supports events like our seasonal wholesale markets to strengthen our regional food infrastructure.
Provides additional resources that support new and ongoing projects designed to bring fresh produce straight from local farms to children and seniors in underserved communities.
Your Donation Supports:
• Puget Sound Food Network (PSFN) is a non-profit supply chain support system that combines professional staff and technology to increase the production, distribution, and consumption of food and other agricultural goods produced in Northwest Washington.
• Workshops on value-added production methods, such as Transitioning To Value Added Products course for food producers and Cider Making Principles and Practices.• Whatcom County Food System Project - helping to increase the consumption of local foods in the K-12 school system, and promoting mechanisms by which local farmers can increase production and at the same time find increased markets for their produce.
• The Whidbey Island Grown brand was established by local farmers and residents to increase awareness and consumption of agricultural products grown on Whidbey Island. Funding assistance was received from local donors and the Washington Department of Commerce. Agricultural areas are an important part of what makes Whidbey Island such a special place to visit and live. To preserve farmland and economically vibrant farms, primary goals of NABC, locally grown products will be promoted through use of the new brand.
• Ongoing product development and marketing of local products like Skagit Fresh Sparkling Juice, a farmer owned company.
• Whatcom Meat Producers - group of private Whatcom County farmers and individuals with a unified interest in keeping Whatcom County's only USDA inspected meat slaughter and processing facility open.
• Poultry Processing Equipment Rental Program - helps reach the market for fresh, local, poultry products in our communities we have purchased Featherman processing equipment available for rent.
