Más allá del sello (Beyond the Seal): A Story of Organic Agriculture

[Skagit County, WA —October 8th, 2026] — As a regional partner for the Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), the Northwest Agricultural Business Center (NABC) is proud to share the release of Más allá del sello (Beyond the Seal): A Story of Organic Agriculture, a short documentary featuring the experience of an organic farmer in Skagit County.

Through the personal story of Elvia (Mejia Romero Farm), the film offers a glimpse into what organic agriculture looks like beyond the certification label. Her story highlights the work, knowledge, challenges, and motivations behind organic farming—and the many different paths that can lead farmers to organic production.

At approximately eight minutes long, Más allá del sello invites viewers to hear directly from a farmer about their experience with organic agriculture, including why they chose organic production, the certification process and the challenges they encountered along the way.

“Organic certification changes everything. It opens doors and you are able to sell in more places,” said Elvia, from Mejia Romero Farm.

The documentary was produced as part of NABC’s work as a regional partner of TOPP, a U.S. Department of Agriculture initiative that supports the transition to organic agriculture by connecting farmers with resources, mentorship, education, and community.

“Resources for farmers transitioning to organic agriculture are limited in Spanish, so we wanted to share the experiences of Hispanic farmers in hopes of encouraging other Hispanic farmers to consider making the transition,” said Daniella Silva, bilingual program specialist at NABC. “Organic agriculture can look very different from farm to farm, and we hope this film helps viewers better understand the people and stories behind the organic seal.”

Más allá del sello is available to watch on NABC’s YouTube channel.
